To qualify for PenFed’s Access Honors Advantage America, you must own and operate a PenFed checking account. Power Cash Rewards Visa Signature® Card* and Citi® Double Cash Card

Assuming the cardholder qualifies for PenFed Honors Advantage status and thus earns the full 2% unlimited cash back reward, the Citi® Double Cash Card may be a similar option, offering 2% cash back on all purchases – upon purchase 1%, and another 1% as a percentage when paying. Double Cash also offers an introductory 0% APR on 18-month prepaid transfers. Thereafter, the standard variable APR based on credit is 16.24% – 26.24%. There is also an initial balance transfer fee of $5 or 3% of any transferred amount within the first 4 months of account opening, whichever is greater. After that, the fee is 5% of each transfer ($5 minimum)—6 months longer than the 12-month period offered on the PenFed Power Cash Rewards card.

The main advantage of PenFed Power Cash Rewards over Citi Double Cash is that there are no international transaction fees, so the choice between the two cards depends on international usage plans or the need for longer balance transfer terms.

For PenFed cardholders looking for a flexible rewards card rather than simple cash back, PenFed Pathfinder offers a travel rewards card that offers PenFed Honors Advantage members 4 points per dollar in all travel categories and 3 points per dollar in all travel categories for PenFed Honors Advantage members And 1.5 point members collect all other purchases. The price of the card is $95 *existing Honors Advantage members are exempt.

Like the Power Cash Rewards Card, the Pathfinder Rewards Card offers a 0% introductory rate on 12-month balance transfers, followed by a non-variable APR of 17.99%. Balance transfers have a 3% fee per transaction. A variable APR of 16.49% to 17.99% applies to purchases. Pathfinder Rewards also offers a welcome bonus: 50,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in the first 90 days. With very different income structures, the choice between the two comes down to consumption habits.
