The Barclays View™ Mastercard®* is currently not open to new applicants, but as of October 22, 2021, previous Uber credit card holders will hold the card when it retires. Barclays advertises its View card with “rewards tailored to your lifestyle”. The card earns 3 points per dollar on restaurant purchases, 2 points per dollar on Internet, select streaming, phone, TV service and grocery shopping, and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases Point points.

Barclays said account changes will occur when Uber cardholders are converted to a Barclays View™ Mastercard®*, but these changes will not affect Uber cardholders’ credit reports. However, if you’re looking for a new credit card, be aware that credit card product changes that result in a new account will often show up as a new account on your credit report, which may affect your eligibility for a new credit card.

Barclays said in the fine print of its rewards rules that it may offer welcome bonus points to new cardholders from time to time. At this time, the Barclays View™ Mastercard®* is not available to new cardholders and there is no welcome bonus.

Redeem rewards

Barclays View™ Mastercard®* offers a range of redemption options, including bank deposits to US checking or savings accounts, bank statements, gift cards and merchandise. The redemption starting point for a $25 bank deposit, statement credit, or gift card is 2,500 points. Merchandise returns. Direct deposit to a U.S. bank account is capped at $500 per day.

Barclays View™ Mastercard and Citi Double Cash Cards

If you want serious money back on your everyday purchases, consider the Citi® Double Cash Card. With this card, you get 2% cash back on all purchases – 1% on purchases and 1% on withdrawals.

The Citi® Double Cash Card does not currently offer a welcome bonus, but it does offer an introductory offer of 0% APR: 0% APR introductory on 18-month deposit transfers. After that, the standard variable APR based on credit rating is 14.24% – 24.24%. There is also an initial balance transfer fee of $5 or 3% of any transferred amount within the first 4 months of account opening, whichever is greater. After that, the fee is 5% of each transfer (minimum $5).

Is this card right for you?

If you’re a former Uber credit card holder whose account has switched to a Barclays View™ Mastercard®*, laziness may be the reason you’re keeping the card. However, you should know that there are many no-annual-fee credit cards that offer bigger cash-back rewards and better perks.
