Prerequisites for applying for the Santander Smiles Card
To have a Smile Card, all parties involved must meet certain prerequisites for the Santander constitution. These mainly help to reduce the risk of default by the holder.
First, to apply for a Santander Smiles card, you must be at least 18 years old. The minimum monthly income required depends on the type of card, as described below:
- Smiles Gold: R$1,500.00;
- Smiles Platinum: R$7,000.00;
- Smiles Infinite: R$20,000.00.
Furthermore, individuals are advised not to have low scores or restrictions in credit protection agencies such as Serasa, SPC, etc. This is because the risk of default is high, making credit approval unfeasible.
How to apply for the Santander Smiles Card
Fortunately, you can apply for Smile Cards online, so you don't have to go to a Santander branch in person and wait in line. To apply for yours, just follow these steps:
- Visit the official Santander website;
- Scroll down and click on the Smile Card you want to get: Gold, Platinum or Unlimited;
- Then click on the red button “Request Card”;
- You will be redirected to a page with a form. Step 1 consists of notifying your CPF and clicking on “Continue”;
- Then enter your full name, email and cell phone;
- A verification code will be automatically sent to your phone. To proceed with the request, enter the code in the form;
- Enter your date of birth, nationality, city, state, gender, marital status and mother's name in “Your Profile”;
- Enter your ID or RNE, date of issue and status in “Proof of Identity”;
- Enter your academic background, monthly income, course and date of admission in “Professional Data”;
- Now you need to enter your home address. As long as you enter the zip code, other data will appear automatically, just enter the number and the position complement;
- Choose a PIN for your card, it must have 4 digits;
- Choose the best due date for the invoice and whether you want to receive it digitally or by email;
- At the end of the page, you can choose to purchase additional insurance for your Smiles card;
- The Santander platform will notify you immediately if your case has a chance of being approved. If the answer is yes, all your data will be forwarded for Credit Analysis.
Once the review process is complete, the bank should notify you of the outcome. If approved, the card will be issued and delivered to the address provided during the online application.
