The card offers a welcome bonus of $1,000 cash back after you spend $10,000 within the first 3 months of account opening. This big bonus, combined with the impressive revenue structure of high-spending businesses, makes it a solid card for those looking to earn cash back.

When it comes to the other benefits of Chase Ink Business Premier*, Chase doesn’t hesitate. It includes everything from zero international transaction fees, trip cancellation/interruption insurance and major car rental collision damage waivers to cell phones, extended warranties and purchase protection. Whether your employees need to travel to work or you need to pick up some new technology products for your office, Chase Ink Business Premier* has your business covered.

However, it’s not for everyone. Those familiar with Ultimate Rewards may want to use Chase Ink Business Premier* points as other Ultimate Rewards and transfer them to travel partners or combine them with an account with transfer rights. Cash rewards earned with the Ink Business Premier Card are stored as Ultimate Rewards points, redeemable for 100 points for every $1 earned. Points can be redeemed in four different ways, although some are better than others.

Points can be used for cash back, to book travel with Ultimate Rewards, to use your points to make purchases on Amazon or PayPal, or to purchase gift cards and other products. Each point is worth 1 cent when redeemed for cash back or travel through the Ultimate Rewards portal.

However, paying for points redeemed for a product or service reduces the redemption value to 0.8 cents per point. Because of the depreciation on these purchases, it’s best to redeem your points for cash back and make the purchase yourself. In this way, you can also collect points for your purchases.

It’s also important to note that while the Ink Business Premier Card technically earns Ultimate Rewards points, these points are not the same as the Ultimate Rewards earned on some other Ink or Sapphire series cards. You cannot transfer points earned with the Ink Business Premier Card to airline or hotel partners. Additionally, you may not combine these points with other card accounts that may be transferred to airlines or hotels.

Because business expenses vary widely, we only provide premium figures for a single example business here. You can adjust the numbers to match your specific business’s spending in each category to get a more accurate view of the premium income potential that’s right for your situation.

Assuming a business has an annual spend of $100,000, 20% of which are travel purchases that can be made through the Ultimate Rewards portal, and 30% are other purchases, each worth at least $5,000, the company would have the following return potential for that expense:

Anuncios
  • $20,000 in travel, 5% cash back = $1,000 or 100,000 points
  • $30,000 in bulk, 2.5% cash back = $750 or 75,000 points
  • $50,000 in miscellaneous fees, 2% cash back = $1,000 or 100,000 points

Combined, you can earn 275,000 points per year on typical business expenses in addition to your first-year welcome bonus.

These points are worth $2,750 in cash and will offset the annual fee for the Ink Business Premier Card multiple times. You need to calculate the potential return for your business to see if this card is right for you.

Chase Ink Business Premier* and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Cards

While both business cards are provided by Chase, there are significant differences in the revenue and redemption structures of the two cards.

The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card has an annual fee of $95, earns 3 points per dollar on the first $150,000 spent on travel and select business categories on each account anniversary, and earns 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.

When it comes to redemption, points earned with the Ink Business Preferred credit card are more valuable whenever you want to redeem points for travel or other categories. Each point is worth 1.25 cents when booked with points through the Ultimate Rewards portal. Additionally, Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred from this card to any Chase airline or hotel program partner. This allows for a higher return value after the transfer. Points in selected categories can also be redeemed for 1.25 cents each through Pay Yourself Back.

It’s easy to see that this is the better card for businesses with lower spending and those who make most of their purchases in the rewards category, especially if you plan to redeem it for travel rather than cash.

Chase Ink Business Premier* and American Express® Business Gold

The American Express® Business Gold Card with an annual fee of $295 (see rates and fees, terms that apply) positions itself as a more premium card than Chase Ink Business Premier.

The American Express® Business Gold Card earns 4 Membership Rewards® points per dollar in the 2 selected categories where businesses spend the most per month. Earn 1 point per dollar on other purchases. A accrual rate of 4 points per dollar applies to the first $150,000 of purchases per calendar year from 2 eligible categories. The different categories that are automatically selected based on your spending means you are most likely to maximize your income in any given month, especially as your spending changes.

When it comes to redeeming points, the American Express® Business Gold Card has the benefits of Chase Ink Business Premier* for those who like to redeem it for travel. First, you can choose to transfer the points you earn to any of their 20+ airline or hotel partners for potentially great value. Second, if you want an easier redemption, you can book with your points through American Express Travel, and you’ll get 25% back when you book a flight on select airlines, or on any airline’s business or first class flights point back. If you want to redeem cash back, you should know that Membership Rewards points can only be redeemed for cash back at 0.6 cents each.

This card is lucrative if you have the opportunity to maximize your payouts in some of the six categories that earn extra points per dollar, but again, bonus payouts are capped. If your business spend exceeds the cap, or you want to redeem your rewards for cash back, Ink Business Premier’s Unlimited Earnings may be more suitable.

Chase Ink Business Premier* and American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card

If you’re interested in earning fixed cash back rewards for your business without paying an annual fee, the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card (conditions apply, see rates and fees) should catch your eye. You can earn 2% cash back on all eligible purchases each calendar year up to $50,000, then 1%.

This card is best for businesses that have low overall spending and don’t spend much on travel or make regular purchases over $5,000. For everyday purchases outside of these two categories, this card earns points equivalent to Chase Ink Business Premier* with no annual fee. Benefits are significantly more limited, but the card includes an extended warranty, purchase protection, and rental second loss and damage insurance.

Redeeming rewards with Blue Business Cash is limited to settlement points, but the process couldn’t be easier. Your cash back will be automatically credited within two settlements after settlement with the purchase. All you have to do is pay your bills on time. The rest is done for you.

If your business needs a little extra time to pay for large purchases, Blue Business Cash offers an introductory APR of 0% on purchases within 12 months of account opening, then applies a variable APR of 13.49% to 21.49% on purchases and transfer. Funds transfers must be made within 60 days of account opening and are subject to a fee of $5 or 3%, whichever is greater. This can really help small businesses get started or buy much-needed equipment that would otherwise have to be paid for in full.

Is the Chase Ink Business Premier Card right for you?

Chase Ink Business Premier* is a solid choice for businesses looking for direct cash back rather than travel rewards, offering a range of compelling benefits at a reasonable annual fee.

This card is ideal for businesses that spend more and exceed the category multiplier limits of other competing cards, or spend most of their spending in categories where other cards don’t earn bonuses. 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®, 2.5% cash back on any purchase of $5,000 or more, and 2% cash back on any other purchase Impressive reward.

If some of your charges fall into the limited categories of the other cards, this could also be a useful card to combine with one of the cards. Once you hit the multiplier limit on the other card, as well as any out-of-category payouts, continue to earn more rewards with this card.

The Chase Ink Business Premier Card might not be the right choice for small, budget-conscious businesses, but for larger, high-spending businesses, this might be the ideal card to add to your portfolio.
