If you’re a small business owner and love Hyatt hotels, consider a brand new credit card. Chase just launched the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, and it comes with a solid welcome bonus and compelling benefits that might be worth checking out, especially if you’re a regular at Hyatt hotels.

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card allows you to earn 60,000 bonus points when you spend $5,000 within the first 3 months of account opening. That’s more than enough for two nights at a luxury Hyatt Category 7 hotel like the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek or three nights at a Category 6 hotel like the Grand Hyatt Kauai.

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card has an annual fee of $199, but in return, you get perks that offset the annual fee. These include up to $100 in annual Hyatt points, premium travel and shopping benefits, automatic elite status (you can gift it to up to five people), a 10% points discount when you meet spending requirements, and elite night points toward spending thresholds.

The card is also unique in its earning structure – it features an “Adaptive Earnings Accelerator” that allows cardholders to automatically earn rewards points in the qualifying categories they spend the most each quarter. If your small business expenses change from time to time, this feature can help you earn tons of Hyatt points without worrying about expense categories.

Unlike some other major hotel programs like Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt has not previously offered small business credit cards. The new World of Hyatt business credit card, available since 2019, was developed based on extensive consumer and small business research, according to Chase and Hyatt.

World of Hyatt Business Card Welcome Bonus

Hyatt Place Business Credit Cardholders can earn 60,000 bonus points when they spend $5,000 within the first 3 months of account opening. If you apply before December 31, 2021, you will also receive a free one-year Headspace subscription (a meditation app) subscription, which normally costs $69.99 per year (Headspace subscriptions must be redeemed by December 31, 2022).

According to Insider’s latest points and mileage ratings, Hyatt points are worth an average of 1.5 cents, the highest value of any hotel currency we’ve rated. That means, starting at 75,000 Hyatt points, you can get a stay worth about $1,125.

Hyatt’s price list has eight categories ranging from 5,000 to 40,000 points per night. This welcome bonus allows you to stay up to 15 nights at a Category 1 Hyatt hotel (mainly brands such as Hyatt House and Hyatt Place), or two nights at a Category 7 luxury hotel (such as certain Park Hyatt and Andaz hotels) , the remaining points.

Collect points

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card has an unusual income structure that rewards you based on where you spend the most. Each quarter, cardholders earn double points from the first three eligible spending categories on a list of eight possible categories:

  • A meal
  • Tickets purchased directly from the airline
  • car rental
  • Local transportation and commuting
  • Gas station
  • Internet, cable and telephone services
  • Social Media and Search Engine Advertising
  • Shipping

However, after December 31, 2022, cardholders will earn twice as many points on their first two qualifying quarterly spending categories. There is no limit to the number of bonus points you can earn using this feature.

In addition, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card can earn:

  • 4 points per dollar at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including participating restaurants and spas (this is in addition to the 5x base points already earned by World of Hyatt members)
  • 2 points per dollar on health club and gym memberships
  • 1 point per dollar on all other eligible purchases.

Elite Qualifying Night

For every $10,000 spent on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card in a calendar year, you’ll receive five qualifying nights. If your goal is to achieve higher elite status, this will be a helpful boost, especially since Hyatt has lowered its elite eligibility criteria in 2021 due to the pandemic.

For example, to qualify for Hyatt’s Premier Globalist status, you would normally need to stay 60 qualifying nights in a year, but in 2021, this requirement will be reduced by spending $60,000 on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card Half – to 30 nights. The Annual Awards will allow you to unlock globalist status without ever setting foot in a Hyatt Regency.

Global membership is invaluable to frequent Hyatt travelers, as it offers perks like free room upgrades (the highest standard suite), free breakfast or access to the 4pm Club Lounge. Late check-out, free parking for Reward Nights and 30% bonus points on paid nights.

10% points discount

When you spend $50,000 or more on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card in a calendar year, you’ll earn 10% of your points as bonus points redeemed for the remainder of that calendar year.

Travel and Shopping Guarantee

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card offers many of the same travel and shopping protections as other top travel credit cards, including:

  • Car rental insurance
  • Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance
  • Servicii de călătorie și asistență de urgență
  • Roadside transportation
  • Garantie extinsa
  • Purchase protection

Cardholders also have access to Hyatt Leverage, the chain’s global business travel program that offers special rates to eligible small and midsize businesses at participating Hyatt hotels around the world.

No fees for foreign transactions or employee cards

If you use the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card for international purchases, you will not be charged any international transaction fees. Also, there are no fees for employee cards.

Should You Consider Your New World of Hyatt Business Card?

Before you decide to open the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you should evaluate whether you’re getting enough value to justify the $199 annual fee.

The card offers up to $100 in Hyatt points that can effectively cut your annual fee in half if you know you’re staying at a Hyatt hotel at a paid rate at least twice a year. Additionally, you’ll need to decide if other perks, such as accelerated earnings, explorer status, tier qualification points, and a 10% discount, are worth it for you.

Remember, Hyatt is a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner. So if earning Hyatt points is your main goal, you’re better off using a card that earns transferable Ultimate Rewards points.

For example, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card currently offers 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first three months of account opening and after spending $4,000 in the first three months of account opening. You can transfer those points 1:1 to Hyatt (or one of Chase’s other partners) — and the card also has a wide range of reward categories to earn points for everyday expenses. The annual fee is also lower at just $95.

If you prefer smaller business cards, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is another great option, offering a welcome bonus of 100,000 points after spending $15,000 in the first 3 months of account opening and a $95 annual fee.
