There is no longer a new application limit for the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card. However, Wells Fargo introduced the Wells Fargo AutographSM Card – Offer Ending Soon in late June 2022, a card with comparable features.

The Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card was no longer taking new applications as of April 2021.

Existing cardholders, however, can still take advantage of the card’s compelling value proposition, which includes triple points in a number of well-liked categories, such as dining and travel, for no annual fee. There aren’t many cards in its class that can compete with it, and the Propel has won the “Best No-Annual-Fee Travel Credit Card” award from NerdWallet three times in a row.

The Propel, however, doesn’t include upscale benefits like travel credits, access to airport lounges, travel transfer partners, or reimbursement for Global Entry or TSA Precheck, unlike more costly cards. But it does include certain extras, such as additional rental car insurance and cell phone protection. For a card that doesn’t cost anything to carry, that is a ton of value.

The Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card’s advantages

No yearly charge

Some of the finest rewards cards have an annual charge, particularly the ones that provide big initial incentives and high continuous returns. Therefore, in order for a credit card to be worthwhile, you would need to accumulate enough value in rewards to offset the annual cost. With the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card, that is not a problem. It’s uncommon to find a travel rewards card that provides this much ongoing value without charging you anything each year (assuming you don’t accrue interest charges, of course).

Kinds of rewards that are open to all

The Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card’s reward categories, in contrast to certain other travel cards, are both profitable and widely attractive. It’s not the first travel rewards card that provide benefits for uncommon categories like cabs, tolls, and campsites. But in addition to homestays and ridesharing, the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card now offers triple points on inexpensive travel websites. The category of streaming services is likewise unique and could be useful to the correct sort of consumer.

The Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card has drawbacks.

Few upscale benefits

If you want a credit card with special travel bonuses and other advantages, you’ll generally have to pay for it. There is no annual charge for the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card, but it also doesn’t offer benefits like Global Entry/TSA Precheck reimbursement, use of an airport lounge, or the option to transfer your credits to airline or hotel partners are some examples.

Limited potential for worldwide acceptance

Although there are no international transaction fees with the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card, American Express is less generally accepted abroad than Mastercard and Visa. Thus, this card might not be your best option if you want to go abroad.
