Overview of the Amazon Prime Security Card
The Amazon Prime Secured Card works like other secured credit cards in that you pay a cash deposit as security. However, this card can also be used for a wider credit file, including those with a low credit score or no credit history at all.
Users can earn 2% back on purchases on Amazon.com, and free credit tracking tools make it easier to track your credit history. This Amazon Prime Guaranteed Card is best for those with poor or no credit, and for those who frequently shop for groceries or supplies on Amazon.

Current Welcome Offers
The Amazon Prime Secured Card does not offer any welcome bonus, although this is fairly common among secured credit cards.
Cardholders who choose to build their credit with the Amazon Prime Secured Card also get 2% back on purchases, provided they are an Amazon Prime member. This bonus rate is ideal for Amazon purchases, especially for grocery delivery purchased through Amazon Fresh.
However, it’s important to note that the Amazon Prime Security Card can only be used on eligible Amazon purchases. For example, you can’t use it at grocery stores, gas stations, or restaurants like some other secure credit cards.
How do you earn
Sign up to earn 2% back on eligible Amazon.com purchases, which may include Amazon purchases and grocery delivery through Amazon Fresh. This program is great for eligible purchases, especially since the Amazon Prime Guaranteed Card has no annual fee.
How to redeem
Once you’re ready to redeem your earned rewards, you can redeem your rewards directly for Amazon.com purchases. You can also redeem your Rewards Points for a one-time statement credit, or set up your account to automatically redeem your available Rewards balance for a statement credit at the end of each billing cycle.
Synchrony Bank, the card issuer, recommends that your account must be in good standing to be eligible to redeem rewards.
How much is the reward worth?
Rewards earned with this card are provided in the form of cash back for easy calculation of your reward value. For example, with this card, you can get a 2% bonus on every $100 you spend.
More benefits for cardholders
The Amazon Prime Secured Card doesn’t offer many benefits, but it’s common among secured credit cards. Since this card is primarily used for building credit as well as the secondary benefit of getting rewards, most of its benefits are focused on these two features.
Credit Building Tools and Features
This secured card is easy to get approved, which is a great advantage when you need to build credit but can’t get an unsecured card. Additional credit building features are available through the TransUnion CreditView dashboard, which allows you to track your credit score and progress in real-time.
Renew your card after 12 months
Also note that after 12 months of responsible use of the Amazon Prime Security Card, you may be eligible to upgrade to the Amazon Store Card. In most cases, this means keeping your debt at a reasonable level and always paying your bills on time.
If you upgrade to the Amazon Store Card, you’ll get the full deposit.
Prices and Fees
There is no annual fee for the Amazon Prime Guaranteed Card, which is a huge plus. A fixed APR of 10% is now well below the average APR on a credit card, which is currently just over 16%.
Also note that the late fee for the Amazon Prime Guaranteed Card is only $5, which is significantly lower than other cards.
The best card to pair with this card
If you decide to pair your Amazon Prime Secured Card with another card, you may be able to earn rewards on non-Amazon purchases and further deepen your credit history. We can recommend other reward-worthy secured cards on the market today, including the Discover it® Secured Credit Card we featured above and the Bank of America® Unlimited Cash Rewards Secured Credit Card.
Keep in mind that you will need to deposit a separate bond for each security card you apply for, which can be a costly hurdle considering both of the cards mentioned have higher minimum security requirements.
