Redeem rewards

Cash back awards can only be redeemed on the account statement and will be forfeited if the account is terminated or closed. Rewards will be automatically credited to the account within two months of purchase. So, if $1,000 was spent on stationery in January, the $20 credit would be charged to the March statement.

How the cards are stacked

American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card and American Express Blue Business® Plus Credit Card

The difference seems semantic when you understand that points on a Business Plus card are usually worth a penny, but the main difference is the redemption options.

The Business Cash Card offers statement credit rewards two months after purchase, while the Business Plus Card allows cardholders to transfer Membership Rewards points to partner rewards programs or redeem points for travel or card fees. The complexity of the redemption rules takes more time to ensure points are redeemed at a good redemption rate.

If the cardholder is willing to put in the time, Blue Business Plus can easily beat Blue Business Cash by offering more than 1 cent per point. But with Blue Business Cash, cardholders don’t have to worry about how to use their rewards wisely. Those who want direct, easy cash back should choose Business Cash, while those who want a points system and accompanying options should choose Business Plus.

By most standards, the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card offers great benefits to businesses looking to get the most back on the first $50,000 spent on the card and enjoy everything American Express has to offer.

For CEOs and owners interested in maximizing assortment spend or wanting to spend without worrying about the $50,000 cap, there are better cards for maximizing rewards. Blue Business Cash may not be suitable for international businesses because it has high international transaction fees and American Express is not as widely used abroad as Visa and Mastercard. The card is also not a great option for those looking for balance transfers. But for most small businesses looking for easy, high-yield cashback, this card is definitely worth a look.
