A great “all-in-one” credit card with a generous 0% introductory period on new purchases and balance transfers (though those advertised aren’t guaranteed), and the chance to earn cash back at select retailers.
- 0% interest on purchases for up to 24 months
- 0% interest (charges) on completed balance transfers for up to 22 months
- Up to 5 months of free Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+ and Apple Arcade
- Sign up for 15% cash back when you use the card at select retailers
- Priority access to live events through Barclaycard Entertainment
To qualify for the interest-free introductory balance transfer offer, you must transfer the debt within 60 days of account opening. You will then spend 2.9% of the amount you transfer each time.
When the 0% funds transfer window expires, the remaining debt on the card will be charged at a representative annual rate (APR) of 21.9% (variable). However, depending on your situation, you may get 24.9% (variable) or 29.9% (variable) APR.
But either way, you’ll get 56 days of interest-free purchases. This means that if you pay your balance on time and in full each month, you will not pay any interest.
Late payments will be subject to a £12 fine. Your credit rating will also be affected.
New cardholders also get up to five months of free access to Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+, and Apple Arcade (paid subscriptions later).
By signing up for Barclaycard Cashback Rewards, you can also earn up to 15% cashback when you spend at a range of participating retailers, while Barclaycard Entertainment offers select live events, festive pre-sale and many exclusive customer benefits.
Like any credit card, Barclaycard Platinum Credit Cardoffers protection for purchases between £100 and £30,000.
This is available under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. Even if you only deposit part of the fee (such as a deposit) to your card, you can still pay the full fee.
Am I eligible?
You need a very healthy credit score to be accepted on this card – especially if you take into account the title 0% period.
If your credit rating fails this test, you may be eligible for a shorter promotional period. The APR provided to you may also be higher than the representative 21.9% (variable).
However, balance transfers are fixed at 2.9% regardless of the rates offered and the 0% condition.
Applying through the Eligibility Check Tool will show your likelihood of being accepted – and under what conditions – without affecting your credit score.
What are the advantages?
- 0% discount on purchases and transfers introductory period
- No annual fee
- Up to 5 months of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+ and Apple Arcade free
- Rewards include cash back and access to selected live events when you sign up for Barclays Card Cashback Rewards
What are the disadvantages?
- May provide a shorter 0% window and higher APR
- Longer 0% window available for balance transfers
- Foreign transaction fee application for use abroad.
What else should I know?
This offer is only available to new Barclays customers.
Once accepted, you must reach your credit limit and pay at least the minimum amount on time each month. Failure to do so may result in a cancellation of the promotional price and your credit score may be affected.
You must be disciplined when paying your balance before the 0% introductory offer ends, or your fees will skyrocket.
If you make balance transfers (up to five allowed, with a minimum amount of £250), these transfers should not exceed 90% of your allotted credit limit. You cannot transfer money from another Barclays card.
When you use your card to withdraw money from an ATM, you will be charged interest immediately.
Is this card right for me?
If you have good credit, existing credit card debt, and are looking for a solid all-around credit card product, this card could be at the top of the list.
Regardless of the promotional period, the card comes with other perks, including five months of free Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+, and Apple Arcade, as well as access to select live events.
What are my alternatives?
If your primary goal in applying for this card is to transfer more expensive existing card debt onto it, there are longer 0% offers to win that.
However, if you’re looking for an “all-rounder” card that also offers interest-free spending, Barclays’ Platinum Card may be an ideal solution.
